Not The Amazon

Some of Europe’s last untouched primary forests are in Romania. A research team visits annually to monitor and map several thousand individual trees.

They are vital for understanding how undisturbed natural forests respond to climate change. Although protected by European law and within National Parks, logging is increasing near the research plots.

Over the past three years, I have documented the scientists on several trips. Alongside the photo project Not The Amazon, I filmed and edited a TV contribution for ARD Germany.
